April Lockhart
April Lockhart (born July 4, 1995) started her journey in music at the age of 7 when she started piano and guitar classes. April's first song was Different which she composed when she was 12 years old. She spent a lot of time at 14 making songs and practicing music. She began writing along with her dad in NY and LA shortly after. April added other themes to the song "Take My Hand" for a few of her friends who dealt with concerns like peer pressure disabilities, and even teenager suicide. Lockhart also enjoys an increasing popularity as a lifestyle influencer and works for popular clean beauty company Ilia. She was born without a left hand and that makes her unique. It's not the only thing about her. Lockhart's Instagram page doesn't overlook the fact that she has a disability. However, it doesn't insist on the issue. What message is it sending? It is important to remember that we all have many faces, our identities vary and we're much beyond our body. Lockhart stated in a video interview that she didn't want to be defined solely by her disability. She doesn't want to become an advocate for disabled people who only talks about disability. There are many aspects of Lockhart. This doesn't have any effect on my day-to-day life I do everything normally and I've found my own way to adjust things. However, I also consider that it is a crucial part of myself. Lockhart has served as an excellent source of inspiration for her female friends regarding acceptance of oneself. However, she admits having moments when she felt uncomfortable with her appearance as well as wearing clothes which displayed her arms. Nowadays, she dresses whatever she wants and posts pictures of herself in these outfits on social media with pride. The key to self-love for her is that it's not an end destination. But, this isn't typical for people who has insecurities. I believe that it's really important to surround yourself with people who can discern and understand your heart.
