Young relocated from North Carolina to Los Angeles landing the roles of Cathy Metsker in Randall Wallace s We Were Soldiers with Mel Gibson Madeleine Stowe & Greg Kinnear and Rachel in JJ Abrams Mission Impossible: 3 featuring Tom Cruise and Keri Russell. There she also produced some independent films like The Freebie featuring Dax Shepherd and A Country Remedy with Joshua Leonard. They filmed them all in North Carolina. Young is currently seen in her award winning role as First Lady Mellie Grant on ABC popular series Scandal and also in the coming Zoe Cassavetes film Day out of Days. Young is currently working on an adult contemporary album featuring versions of Fleetwood Mac Tom Waits Ryan Adams. Young released Far Away So Close, her debut album on iTunes on May 15, 2015. Megan Griffiths, who directed the movie The Night Stalker in 2016 as the serial murderer Richard Ramirez. The following year she starred in a supporting part alongside Jim Rash and David Koechner in the comedy of independent productions Bernard and Huey. In the year 2018, alongside Oprah Winfrey Reese Witherspoon Mindy Kaling and Reese Witherspoon she was a co-star in the live action Disney adaption to A Wrinkle in Time.
